About this policy
This policy describes Writing Time, a writing practice tracker from The Fountain, created by Kimberly King Parsons and Chelsea Bieker.
For privacy questions or requests, contact connect@fountainpractice.com.
Information you provide
- Your email address, display name, and timezone.
- Writing dates and minutes, and any word counts, feelings, or reflections you choose to record.
- Project names, starting word counts, goals, target dates, and other project details you enter.
- Messages you send when requesting support or account deletion.
Only writing minutes are required for an entry. Optional reflections may contain personal information; choose what you want to save. Writing Time is not a manuscript editor.
Technical information and browser storage
Our hosting, authentication, and email providers process technical information needed to deliver and secure the service, such as IP addresses, request information, and email delivery events.
Writing Time uses authentication cookies to keep you signed in. The timer stores its unfinished state in your browser so you can recover it after a refresh. Clearing browser storage may sign you out or remove an unfinished timer; it does not delete entries already saved to your account.
The current app code does not include advertising trackers or third-party marketing analytics.
How information is used
We use account and writing information to sign you in, save and display your records, calculate your progress, manage trial and subscription access, generate exports, respond to support requests, and maintain the security and operation of Writing Time. Sign-in emails deliver access codes; requesting a code does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
After you verify your email, we may send a setup reminder. During your free Premium trial, we may send a Premium membership invitation and a reminder before your trial ends. These emails use account verification, setup, and access dates, not your writing content. You can stop setup and trial emails using the preference link in any of them; sign-in codes and important billing and account emails continue. We retain a private delivery record to prevent repeat messages and an opt-out preference until your account is deleted.
Service providers and disclosure
Writing Time uses Supabase for authentication and database storage, Vercel for hosting, and Resend for email delivery. Each provider processes the information needed for its role. For example, sign-in delivery requires your email address and email content; it does not require your writing reflections.
Your journal is not a public profile or community feed. We may need to access information to investigate a support request or security issue, meet legal obligations, or protect users and the service. Writing Time does not provide end-to-end encryption.
Stripe processes subscription payments. We store billing identifiers and payment status to manage your access; we do not store full payment card details. Stripe processes the payment and billing information you provide during checkout.
Retention and deletion
Saved records remain associated with your account after your trial ends; trial expiry does not automatically delete your history. You can delete your account from Account settings, with or without Premium, or request help by emailing connect@fountainpractice.com. Self-service deletion requires a fresh deletion code sent to your verified email and explicit confirmation. We offer a data export first, stop and verify Writing Time subscription billing, then remove your account and saved records from the active service. If processing fails, the request stays pending for retry or support review; we email you when deletion is complete.
Deleting an individual entry removes its content from your active journal. The app retains an identifier to prevent a delayed save from recreating that entry. This identifier is associated with your account and does not contain the deleted reflection.
Backups, operational logs, and support correspondence may follow separate retention schedules. Deletion from the active service does not necessarily remove information immediately from backups or operational records. A restricted deletion record retains request identifiers, billing identifiers, processing timestamps and delivery status for retries, security and billing reconciliation; it does not contain your journal content. The recipient address and stored confirmation email content are cleared from that record when processing completes. Contact us for information about your deletion request and any records retained for legal or operational purposes.
Your choices and requests
You can review your saved history and download a structured JSON backup without Premium. PDF reports require Premium. Editing and individual entry deletion depend on your current feature access; you can still contact us about correction or account deletion without Premium.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. Contact connect@fountainpractice.com to make a request or ask about your information.
Security and updates
Writing Time uses account authentication and database access controls to restrict access to records. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your email account and keep your sign-in codes and exported files private.
We will date changes to this policy and communicate material changes to our practices.
